Zen Shiatsu

Zen Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork that is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Essentially, Shiatsu means finger-pressure, shi meaning finger and atsu meaning pressure. Similarly to acupuncture, Zen Shiatsu follows the twelve meridians of energy in the body, using finger-pressure following the line of meridians. It focuses on working with the muscles, tendons and ligaments as well as tapping into the flow of energy in the body, also known as ;Ki. Doing this allows for a focus beyond just the physical body.

Shiatsu effects the body on many different levels. It will hit on the physical aspects like body aches and sore muscles, as well as the physiological functions that your organs are responsible for. It also focuses on how you interact, react, and cope with life on an emotional level. Your mental way of being is also addressed, in particular your ability to think clearly, to come to decisions and conclusions. Finally the spiritual aspect of energy movement simply entails your sense of purpose and direction in life.
